Our Story

Where the archipelago meets the roaster

Rempah Brew was born from a simple question: why should you choose between a great cup of coffee and something good for your body? Growing up surrounded by the rich spice traditions of Indonesia, we knew the answer was that you should never have to.

We source our spices directly from Indonesian farmers who have cultivated these plants for generations. Each drip bag is then carefully crafted and roasted in Australia, bringing together two worlds in every brew.

How to brew

The perfect drip

01

Boil your water

Heat fresh water to around 95°C. Avoid boiling water straight from the kettle as water that is too hot will over-extract the coffee and mask the spice notes.

02

Open the drip bag

Tear open the sachet and unfold the drip bag hooks. Hang it over the rim of your cup, making sure it sits securely before you pour.

03

Pre-wet the grounds

Pour a small amount of hot water (about 30ml) over the grounds and wait 30 seconds. This blooming stage releases CO2 and opens up the flavour of both the coffee and the spices.

04

Brew slowly

Pour the remaining water in slow, steady circles from the centre outward. Fill to the top of the drip bag and let it drip through completely. This should take around 3 to 4 minutes.

05

Remove and enjoy

Lift out the drip bag and discard it. Your cup is ready. Drink it black to appreciate the full spice profile, or add a splash of water/milk for a softer finish.
